The Kindle With Global Wireless Vs. The Kindle DX
The Differences:
The clearest difference between these electronic reading gadgets available for purchase at this time is that just one works in the US while the other works in countries around the planet. Clearly if you live somewhere outside the States (or if you're a US citizen who frequently visits other countries) then that makes your decision clear; You must purchase the Kindle with Global Wireless.
Besides that, the biggest difference is that of their sizes. The Kindle DX is far larger as far it's display size and it's memory capabilities. It's also much larger as far as it's costis concerned (as of now the DX costs more than $200 more than the Global Kindle.)
The DX is 9.7 inches and the Global Kindle is 6 inches. The larger screen is most helpful when reading a digital newspaper On the flip side, the smaller size of the global version may make it more easy to carry with you wherever you go.
There's also a large difference when it comes to memory size. The Kindle DX Reading Device can hold over 3000 books while the global version can hold up to 1,500 books, magazines, & newspapers. Although, who has such a ridiculous amount of books?! Honestly, I have a difficult time imagining this huge amount of space that the DX has is necessary for most customers.
Another difference between the two is the auto-rotating screen that the DX has.The DX also has a built in PDF reader that the smaller version does not have.
The Similarities:
They both can download from a selection of about 350,000 books, newspapers, and magazines which can all be bought for lower prices than their paperback alternatives. These books can all be downloaded within just 60 seconds from anywhere (they have G3 wireless so there's no need to search for wi-fi spots.)
They both have text to speech software which automatically turns all of your books into audio books.
Neither of these electronic reading devices will add to your monthly bills. The wireless service is provided much like the wireless for a GPS.
They both have a very basic built in web browswer that lets you surf the web wherever you are. This web browswer is designed for text based websites such as Wikipedia and blogs. It's not for pictures or videos.
They both have a "no glare" display that "reads like paper." If you're worried that reading this will be like reading your computer monitor then don't be! It's not like that at all.
